Pathétique Melodramma

A new opera project

- Why this opera today? -

We live in a time of profound cultural confusion, where symbols, identities and ideologies are constantly raised like banners, each claiming to represent truth. Yet the more loudly truth is proclaimed, the more fragile it often becomes.

Pathetique Melodramma moves in the opposite direction.

It does not proclaim a truth.

It allows it to be lived.

Because sometimes,

love is larger than the world that tries to contain it.

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Pathetique Melodramma is a four-act opera conceived as a dramaturgical continuation of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 “Pathétique”.

Acts II and III are aligned with the complete performance of the symphony, which remains entirely intact.

Beyond its conclusion, a newly conceived Act IV emerges:an 18-minute Requiem conceived as the metaphysical completion of the work.

- Concept -

The project explores the relationship between love, form and transcendence.

It does not propose a narrative resolution, but a transformation of perception:

What appears as death reveals itself as passage.

Overture

A pre-temporal memory.

Acts II–III

Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6, fully performed.

Act IV — Requiem
(Ex Tenebris Vita) A newly conceived final act.

CULTURAL RELEVANCE:

Pathetique Melodramma,

  • reinterprets the Requiem form beyond mourning.

  • creates dialogue between symphonic canon and contemporary creation.

  • transforms the silence at the end of Tchaikovsky’s Sixth Symphony into a new dramatic beginning.

  • offers a philosophical reflection on love, death and transformation, through a metaphysical narrative.

  • bridges sacred tradition and modern dramaturgy.

This is not a revival.

It is a structural redefinition.

THE REQUIEM:

The Requiem is not conceived as a Missa pro defunctis.

It does not pray for eternal rest. It reveals a different state of being:

not death, but living light.
